Announcing Athletic Director Peggy Seegers-Braun's Retirement

After 37 years of service at DSHA, award-winning Athletic Director Peggy Seegers-Braun will retire. Seegers-Braun will see Dashers through the 2024-25 school year.
Dear DSHA Community,

We wanted to share with our entire DSHA community the news of the upcoming retirement of our long-time, outstanding, and award-winning Athletic Director Peggy Seegers-Braun. Peggy will complete the school year, and her last official day will be June 30, 2025.

It is with profound gratitude that we thank Peggy for her servant leadership of our athletic program for the last 37 years. At the forefront of her leadership has been her relationship with God and her commitment to our Catholic mission to help DSHA student-athletes accept the gospel call to live lives that make a difference.

During her time as athletic director, DSHA athletic programs have grown from seven sports and 14 teams to 16 sports and 43 teams in 2025. Peggy has assured for non-cut sports in each season and today, over 60% of DSHA students participate in at least one of our competitive sports teams.

Peggy has always put the girls first, seeing sports as a way for them to become the person that God intends them to be and to teach them life lessons. Peggy has helped to organize Thankful Thursday liturgies for each athletic team and requires each team to do a service project as a way of sharing their God-given talents with others. In addition to using athletics to grow in faith, Peggy will be remembered as a fierce competitor who wants our student-athletes to be successful on the fields and courts. However, their academics come before athletics.

Peggy has also seen athletics as a way for young women to grow as leaders. She developed and implemented the Student Athletic Advisory Council, has coordinated a Leadership Workshop each year for student-athletes and coaches, and created a process to involve student-athletes in evaluating coaches.
Peggy has worked tirelessly to support her coaches. This year DSHA was recognized as one of two schools in Wisconsin as a Level 3 member of the National Federation of High School Sports Honor Roll Program which recognizes schools that have their coaches complete professional development through NFHS Learning Center coursework. To be recognized at Level 3, all head and assistant coaches must have completed the following courses: Sportsmanship, Strength & Conditioning, Bullying, Hazing and Inappropriate Behaviors, Teaching and Modeling Behavior, and Engaging Effectively with Parents.

Athletic team accolades since 1988 include winning 10 National Rugby Championships, 4 WIARA State Ski Championships, 4 WHSFHA Field Hockey State Championships, 24 WISAA and WIAA State Championships, 13 Rugby State Championships, 28 WISAA and WIAA State Runner-up titles, 53 WIAA Sectional Championships, 16 WIAA Sectional Runner-up Championships, and 86 WIAA Regional Championships.

Peggy has been recognized at the state and national level for her outstanding leadership. Her deserved awards include the: Wisconsin Independent Schools Athletic Association Athletic Director of the Year District Ill 1995-96 and Woman of the Year 1997, Wisconsin Independent Schools Athletic Director Association Athletic Director of the Year District 3 1995-96, Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association State Athletic Director of the Year 2017, InsideOut Leadership Award 2024, and Green Bay Packer State Athletic Director of the Year, National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association/National Federation of State High School Associations Distinguished Award National Winner 2020, Citation Award National Winner 2022, State Award of Merit Wisconsin Recipient 2024, and the first-ever recipient of the Green Bay Packers Athletic Director of the Year Award 2024.

She has sat on countless committees at DSHA, in the Greater Metro Conference, and state and national levels. Her contributions to the DSHA community are endless. She will be remembered for her tireless commitment to the DSHA mission, for her unwavering belief in generations of young women, her dedicated support and development of her coaches, her partnership with parents, and her love of sports.
Please join us in congratulating Peggy as we say, "Well done good and faithful servant!" (Matthew 25:23)

And stay tuned! We plan to celebrate the one-and-only Peggy Seegers-Braun and her very special career with the DSHA community in the coming months.

For now, we invite you to share how Peggy has impacted you and/or your daughter via this form.
