Angela Pienkos

Angela Mischke Pienkos, DS ’58

Angela began her 21 year tenure at DSHA in 1976 when the Sisters of the Divine Savior chose her to serve as the school’s first chief administrator, serving in this role until 1997. While at DSHA, she was successful in preserving and strengthening the school in challenging times. She led the academic transition from a school staffed largely by Sisters to one built on a strong foundation of lay faculty. Along with two capital campaigns, she began fund-raising activities such as bingo, the annual fund drive, and an annual auction to supplement tuition as the school’s main revenue source.

Preceding DSHA, she taught history for nine years at both Ripon and Alverno Colleges. Angela was also principal at Kettle Moraine High School and the Executive Director of the Polish Center of Wisconsin.

Angela has been active in the Polish Women’s Cultural Club of Milwaukee, the Wisconsin Association of Catholic School Principals, and the Polish American Historical Association. She has been a board member at DSHA and Catholic Charities – Archdiocese of Milwaukee, and served as an editorial board member for the Polish American Studies journal.

Angela Pienkos graduated from Divine Savior High School in 1958. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Marquette University. She earned her PhD in Modern European history from UW-Madison, and a specialist degree in administrative leadership degree from UW-Milwaukee.

She and her husband have four sons and seven grandchildren.
